Collection: Larus Marcasite

Marcasite jewellery is reminiscent of the styles created during the Victorian era.  The pieces in this collection are made new - to look old!   They are made with genuine gemstones, pearls and enamel to create exquisite designs that are both a romantic and modern at the same time.

The small silver-grey stones are called 'marcasite' which is technically a white iron pyrite and are all claw-set into sterling silver.  They have one of the highest refractive surfaces, which made it a great diamond substitute in the late 1800s and early 1900s (pre-cubic zirconia days).

Rings can be sized as no glue is used to set these stones.  Pieces can be cleaned, though it may temporarily lighten up the intentional oxidization done to the silver, called patina, to make them look vintage.  *some care is advised with designs featuring pearls

This is the best quality marcasite jewellery on the market and we encourage customers to wear these items daily!
